Societal norms cause people of different races to stay apart from one another. It would be socially awkward to be the only colored person in a group of students or vice versa.

People like to be with people who are like them. Therefore, people try to stick to their own kind. The black kids sit with the other black kids and the white kids sit with the other white kids, simply because they have more in common.

8. What do you do when you meet people who do not fit into your personal stereotypes?
If you were to meet Jeremy Lin. Or another Asian who was great at basketball but horrible at math and science. And then you were to meet another Asian person. Would you still expect them to be good at math and science? Would you be shocked if they were good at basketball instead?

If you were to meet a black person who was horrible at basketball and rapping, but was great and math and science and extremely eloquent, would you consider him to be an exception?

9. Can race be used as an excuse? Or does it make a simple achievement even more noteworthy?
